Kate Kensell

Kate Kensell is a Senior Associate at Hamish Cumming Family Lawyers, exclusively practising in family law for over 15 years. She appears as an Independent Children’s Lawyer in family law proceedings, showcasing her dedication and expertise in safeguarding children's interests. Since joining the firm in 2009, she has brought extensive experience and commitment to her role. Before her tenure at Hamish Cumming Family Lawyers, Kate served as the Young Lawyer’s Representative of the Northern Territory Law Society and contributed as a councillor to the Northern Territory Law Council. Her dedication to community service is reflected in her board membership and volunteer work with the Top End Women’s Legal Service in the Northern Territory, as well as her volunteer role with the Inner City Legal Centre in Sydney. Kate earned her Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts with Honours in 2005 and was admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of NSW in 2006. During her studies, she honed her legal skills as a paralegal in the family law jurisdiction, laying a strong foundation for her legal career. She is an active member of the family law sections of the Law Society of New South Wales and the Law Council of Australia. Additionally, Kate is on the panel of Independent Children’s Lawyers, further emphasising her dedication to the field of family law.
