Simon James

Simon James holds a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Laws, and a Master of Public Administration, alongside membership of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. As Special Counsel, Simon brings extensive experience in civil litigation involving negligence claims, including worker’s compensation, common law personal injury, motor vehicle accidents, and general negligence matters. His academic background encompasses justice, law, public administration, and corporate governance, which informs his work within compensation law. Simon has a particular focus on claims related to government and emergency service workers. Notably, he has developed expertise in occupational cancer cases involving firefighters. He actively contributes his knowledge to the Firefighters Cancer Foundation Australia, supporting policy development and advocating for firefighters and their families affected by cancer. Simon’s professional roles include appointment as a Referee to the Queensland Development Tribunal and membership of the Queensland Law Society Rules Committee. He has also completed National Mediation Training and holds accreditation through the Australian Mediation Association.
