
James Bell, a distinguished Principal, has spent over three decades shaping the legal landscape, primarily advising on commercial and entertainment law, insolvency, property, probate, and litigation matters. His legal career commenced at DawsonWaldron/Blake Dawson Waldron, now Ashursts, where he dedicated 20 years, including a decade as a partner and administrative head of the banking group in Sydney. His extensive expertise in commercial and property work, coupled with his experience in litigation and insolvency, laid the foundation for his own practice, established in 1995. James has played a pivotal role outside the courtroom, contributing significantly to cultural and educational initiatives. He has been a Fellow at St Paul's College, University of Sydney, and served on the board of the St Paul's College Foundation for 45 years, including a term as Vice President of its Union. His commitment to the arts is evident through his board memberships with the Elizabethan Theatre Trust, the William Fletcher Foundation, and Braeside Music and Drama Limited. Each of these roles has supported the growth of visual and performing arts both domestically and abroad. In addition to his contributions to the arts, James has previously held leadership positions with the NSW Polo Association and the Goulburn Polo Club. A supporter of Bell Shakespeare's Company, he has also produced successful recordings for Peter Cousens. Educated at Tudor House, The King's School, Parramatta, and St Paul's College, University of Sydney, James holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws, with academic concentrations in Music, Government, and Law. His well-rounded career reflects a deep commitment to both legal excellence and community enrichment.
