About Kevin
Kevin Cartledge is the founder and principal of KDC Legal, bringing over two decades of experience in criminal law, regulatory prosecutions, administrative law, and government compliance and enforcement. He commenced his legal career in 2005 at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in Queensland, focusing on serious criminal prosecutions. Transitioning to private practice, Kevin honed his defence skills at a notable criminal defence firm before moving to an in-house position with the Brisbane City Council in 2013.
At the Council, Kevin directed the litigation risk and enforcement team, managing complex regulatory prosecutions and appeals while providing comprehensive advice on compliance matters. His role involved collaborating closely with compliance officers to enhance decision-making processes, ensuring that enforcement functions were performed lawfully and effectively.
Kevin has developed a keen insight into regulatory frameworks and compliance issues, offering clients clarity and practical solutions. His reputation for distilling complex issues into manageable advice is paired with a commercially aware approach, appreciated by clients who seek precise and actionable guidance. As an experienced advocate, he has frequently conducted trials, hearings, and appeals as a solicitor advocate.
