About Us

Legoe Chambers was established in 1994 by Michael David QC, Ann Vanstone QC, both of whom have since been appointed as Justices of the Supreme Court, and Ian Sampson. Initially located on Angas Street, the Chambers moved to Gouger Street in 2004, overlooking Chinatown, before settling at their current premises in Carrington House in July 2013. The Chambers derive their name from the Honourable Christopher Legoe QC AO, the first barrister to practise at the independent bar in South Australia. Mr Legoe was recognised with an Order of Australia in 2015 for his distinguished contributions to the law and judiciary, professional standards, legal education, and various historical, artistic, and environmental conservation efforts. The current members of Legoe Chambers are Kristie Molloy, who serves as Head of Chambers, alongside Matthew Mead, Carrie Demertzis, and Rose-Marie Read. This team continues the tradition of excellence established by their predecessors.
