Alisha Maharaj-MacLean is a Director and practising Lawyer at MacLean IP, where she serves as a Trade Marks Attorney. With a strong focus on intellectual property, Alisha adeptly advises clients on copyright and trademark disputes and the commercialisation and licensing of intellectual property assets. Her expertise extends to assisting start-ups in protecting and leveraging their intellectual property, applying a comprehensive approach that considers the intricate balance between business ownership, time constraints, budgets, and intellectual property management. Alisha's background as a skilled negotiator allows her to effectively manage varied stakeholder interests, ensuring that clients benefit from her strategic insights into the value-added potential of intellectual property. Her work with native title clients has honed her interest in intellectual property management within the commercialisation of biodiscovery activities and traditional cultural expressions. In addition to her pivotal role at MacLean IP, Alisha contributes to the legal community as an elected board member of the Legal Practice Board of Western Australia. Her prior experience includes serving as a lawyer at Minter Ellison and holding a directorial position at The Stripey Horse. Alisha’s academic achievements include a Bachelor of Laws from The University of Notre Dame Australia, a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Tasmania, and a Master of Intellectual Property from the University of Technology Sydney, where she graduated with distinction.
