Richard O'Dea

Richard O'Dea serves as the Principal at Madsen O’Dea, bringing an extensive background in corporate and commercial law. Admitted to practice in 1997, Richard's career began as the managing partner of a sizeable corporate law firm, where he honed his skills in commercial litigation, wills and estates litigation, real property disputes, debt recovery, and insolvency law. His expertise extends to conducting independent corporate investigations and providing governance and risk minimisation advice. Known for his proficiency, Richard often receives referrals from fellow law firms and barristers. Richard's advisory services encompass guiding liquidators and insolvency practitioners, as well as company directors, creditors, and debtors, in navigating complex insolvency issues. His comprehensive litigation practice addresses disputes involving landlords, tenants, and beneficiaries in deceased estates, alongside resolving commercial disputes for both individuals and small to medium enterprises. Richard holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts with Honours from the University of Adelaide, complemented by a Graduate Certificate in Legal Practice from the University of South Australia and an Advanced Insolvency Law & Practice certificate from the University of Southern Queensland.
