Mark Hanna

Mark Hanna is the Principal of the firm and is recognised among his peers as a persuasive advocate known for innovative thinking. Mark's legal experience spans several areas, with notable involvement in major cases. He acted as instructing solicitor in the landmark High Court case Kirk v Industrial Relations Commission; Kirk Group Holdings Pty Ltd v WorkCover Authority of New South Wales [2010] HCA 1, which has become a key precedent in Australian law and described as one of the most significant decisions in recent times. He also played an important briefing role in The Church of the New Faith v Pay Roll Tax Commissioner of Victoria, a High Court case that established the legal criteria for defining religious institutions in Australia. This decision has been influential internationally, cited in judgements across Europe, the United States and Commonwealth countries. Over the past decade, Mark has increasingly focused on matters involving family law, family provision and estate law, including litigation in these areas.
