Francesca Nyilas is a dedicated Senior Consultant at McCafferty Legal, where her practice spans across the firm's diverse service areas. She holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of International Studies, which underpin her extensive experience in the fields of climate change policy, planning and environmental law, property law, animal law, and renewable energy. Francesca plays a pivotal role in the firm's energy transition, projects, and commercial sectors, bringing her expertise to bear on complex legal landscapes. During her tenure as a lawyer with McCafferty Legal, Francesca has honed her skills in environmental and energy law. Her proactive engagement in the Australian Alliance for Animals as a volunteer researcher further underscores her commitment to animal law. Francesca's recent secondment at Powerlink Queensland saw her efficiently cover legal team responsibilities, showcasing her adaptability and depth of knowledge in remote settings. Prior to joining McCafferty Legal, Francesca served as a Graduate Lawyer at Mills Oakley, co-managing development appeals and advocating for clients in the real estate sector. Her contributions to the ACT Government as a Climate Change Policy Officer involved formulating strategic policy advice and legislative options to promote zero-emission vehicles and achieve sustainability goals. Her career foundation was strengthened with roles such as Legal Intern at Voiceless, where she crafted educative materials for animal law, and as a Paralegal at Shaw Reynolds Lawyers, conducting in-depth planning law research. At the Land and Environment Court NSW, she enriched her understanding of court procedures and environmental legislation. Francesca also contributed to the Department of the Environment and Energy's efforts against environmental crime, participating in field operations that aided prosecution efforts.
