Since 1996, Michael has concentrated his practice on the energy sector, guiding clients through intricate projects across the Asia-Pacific region. His expertise encompasses project funding, large-scale project initiation, construction, delivery, and the integration of renewable energy projects into the NEM Grid. As an experienced company director within the energy sector, he offers invaluable insights and leadership. Currently, Michael leads McCafferty Legal and McCafferty Consulting. At McCafferty Legal, his focus includes energy, corporate, competition law, and projects, while McCafferty Consulting provides board and corporate advisory services, project negotiation, management consultancy, change management, efficiency and profit improvement, organisational restructuring, and executive mentoring. Michael serves as a Strategic Advisor for Energy North, an independent Australian entity fostering renewable energy and digital infrastructure development in Northern Australia. Notably, he is involved with Project Ares, a proposed 1GW hyperscale data centre in the Northern Territory, and Project Sol, a green hydrogen and ammonia export facility, both of which have received Commonwealth Major Project Status.
