His journey in the IP domain began in 2000 with Spoor & Fisher in South Africa, where he quickly rose to become a partner by 2007. André's career took an international turn in 2008 when he moved to Australia, initially joining Wrays, but it was the vibrant opportunities on the east coast that led him to Sydney and Spruson & Ferguson in 2010. In 2015, motivated by a desire to offer personalised yet top-tier IP services, André founded Meyer West IP. His professional exposure with leading firms has equipped him with comprehensive expertise across the IP spectrum. He has adeptly dealt with a rich variety of technologies, spanning sectors such as mining, medical devices, consumer goods, building products, and agricultural implements. André holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from the University of Johannesburg, a Bachelor of Laws from the University of South Africa, and a Master of Industrial Property from the University of Technology, Sydney. His professional credentials include being a Trans-Tasman Patent and Trade Marks Attorney, a South African Patent Attorney, and a Lawyer of the Supreme Court of New South Wales. He is honoured as a Fellow of the Institute of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys of Australia and the South African Institute of Intellectual Property Law. Away from work, André enjoys reading, playing golf, engaging with his twin boys in backyard sports, and enjoying the card game UNO with his daughter.
