Anthony Makdessi

Anthony Makdessi is a barrister and solicitor with a focus on criminal defence. Since graduating with a Bachelor of Laws in 2022, he has rapidly gained experience across a wide range of criminal matters. Anthony was admitted to the Supreme Court of Western Australia in 2023 and joined Monaghan Lawyers in 2024. Prior to admission, Anthony worked closely with experienced practitioners, assisting in complex criminal pleas, trials, and appeals. His work involved serious criminal offences including drug trafficking, sexual offences, murder, and manslaughter. This early exposure has allowed him to develop a deep understanding of criminal law litigation and procedure. Anthony’s approach to legal representation is characterised by a combination of thorough legal knowledge and practical problem-solving skills. He is recognised for his committed advocacy and ability to achieve positive outcomes tailored to each client’s circumstances. Outside of practice, Anthony contributes to the profession by serving on the committee of the Criminal Lawyers' Association of Western Australia.
