Katrina Brown, the Practice Director and Senior Lawyer at Nautilus Law Group, leads the commercial, estate planning, and tax division with an impressive array of qualifications. Holding a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Michigan and a Juris Doctor from Wayne Law School, Katrina further enhanced her legal prowess with a Graduate Diploma in Law from Bond University and a Masters of Tax specialising in Tax and Financial Planning from the University of New South Wales, awarded with Distinction. Her extensive coursework in financial and aged care planning, along with her accreditation in self-managed superannuation funds and fellowship with the Tax Institute of Australia, underscores her expertise. Admitted as an unrestricted legal practitioner in Queensland, New South Wales, and Commonwealth Courts, Katrina’s legal journey began in 1993 as a paralegal in corporate law. By 1997, she was practising as an unrestricted lawyer, specialising in commercial law, litigation, estate and business planning, estate administration, and body corporate law. Today, her focus is on wealth structuring, estate planning, corporate governance, and disability planning. Known affectionately as the old bird GEEK at Nautilus, Katrina's passion for reading tax and commercial legislation complements her dedication to advocating for vulnerable persons. She actively volunteers and advises community organisations on special needs and vulnerability planning and has served as a government adviser on issues including special needs planning and structuring. Katrina assists clients with business planning, commercial agreements, and tax strategies, integrating structures like trusts and self-managed superannuation funds. Her expertise in estate planning encompasses powers of attorney, wills, and testamentary trusts. She provides conflict resolution services and crafts plans for families affected by disability and elder law, ensuring comprehensive asset structuring and support.
