

Talya Faigenbaum serves as the Managing Director and Principal Lawyer at Nest Legal, where she exemplifies the delivery of modern legal services. She is renowned for her leadership style that emphasises clarity, care, and compassion, fostering teams that excel in delivering high-quality work while prioritising client-focused decisions. Talya is motivated by a belief in providing individuals with confidence, respect, and expert guidance during pivotal and challenging life events. Her extensive experience spans private practice, the community justice sector, and academia. As a Research Fellow at the Centre for Legal Innovation, she investigated innovative ways to enhance the delivery of legal services. Her involvement extends to being an executive member of the LIV’s Technology & Innovation Section, where she contributes to shaping the law to positively impact lives by building exceptional teams, implementing smarter systems, and ensuring clients feel genuinely supported. Talya's role at Nest Legal, since its inception in 2020, includes serving as the Principal Lawyer and Family Law Team Leader in Brunswick East and Thornbury, Victoria. Before this, she was the Coordinator for the Family Law Program at the Banyule Community Health's West Heidelberg Community Legal Service. Her fellowship at the Centre for Legal Innovation focused on digital barrister briefing designs for the community justice sector. Talya founded Faigenbaum Family Lawyers in 2015, where she led as Principal Family Lawyer and Director. Her firm prioritised delivering outstanding client services in various family law areas including divorce, separation, parenting disputes, children's issues, property settlements, and family violence intervention orders. Her approach involves directly collaborating with clients to craft customised, comprehensive solutions for their legal needs, recognising the uniqueness of each family and relationship. Talya's professional recognition includes being a finalist for the Law Institute of Victoria Awards 2016 in Access to Justice and winning the Women In Law Awards 2015 for Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year. Additionally, she contributed her expertise as a member of the Speaking Faculty at the Janders Dean JD Horizons Conference in 2018. Her earlier career includes positions as Special Counsel and Team Leader at KWS Legal and as a Lawyer at Altavilla Vessali Barristers & Solicitors. Talya holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from Monash University and a Bachelor of Arts with majors in Women's Studies and History from the University of Western Australia.
