Jonathan O'Loughlin

Jonathan O'Loughlin is the principal and founder of O’Loughlin Westhoff, established in 2017. With a vast legal career characterised by high-profile roles, Jonathan brings a wealth of knowledge in both regulatory and commercial litigation. His expertise is particularly pronounced in handling ASIC investigations and disputes, drawing on his deep experience from working on both defensive and prosecutorial sides of such cases. Jonathan’s capabilities extend to financial services, taxation disputes, and insolvency matters, making him a versatile figure in commercial law. His diverse educational background includes a Bachelor of Medical Science, a Juris Doctor, and a Master of Law (Taxation), which provide a strong foundation for his specialised legal insights. Jonathan is admitted to practice in the New South Wales Supreme Court, Federal Court, and High Court of Australia, allowing him to represent clients at the highest levels. Before founding his own firm, Jonathan held significant legal roles, including as a Senior Associate at William James and a lawyer for ASIC. His experience at PricewaterhouseCoopers Legal and Argyle Lawyers allowed him to develop strong skills in tax controversy, advising a range of clients from small businesses to high net worth individuals. Early in his career, Jonathan honed his litigation skills at the NSW Crown Solicitor's Office, representing the State of NSW in various legal matters. Outside his legal practice, Jonathan is passionate about ultra-marathon running, where he has excelled at an international level, including representing Australia at the World Championships in 2016.
