

Michael Osborne serves as the Director at Osbornes Lawyers, bringing over 35 years of expertise in property law. Acknowledged for his proficiency, Michael is an accredited specialist, having chaired the advisory committee for the Law Society of New South Wales, accrediting property law specialists from 2014 to 2024. His extensive career encompasses thousands of property transactions, including acquisition, development, management, and sales, positioning him as a seasoned authority in the field. His practice notably focuses on property development, involving structures such as development management, syndication agreements, and land acquisition arrangements like call options and agreements for lease. An exemplary project under his guidance was the Riverwood North Urban Renewal Project (Washington Park), where he represented the developer in collaboration with the New South Wales government and local council. This decade-long project involved the rehabilitation of infrastructure, construction and sale of nearly a thousand dwellings, alongside the provision of a public library as part of a voluntary planning agreement. Michael’s expertise extends to financing and mortgages, strata and community titles, easements and covenants, and due diligence for both purchasers and vendors. He is also well-versed in commercial and retail leasing, serving building owners and tenants in various transactions. Furthermore, Michael oversees the residential conveyancing team and contributes to general commercial work, including shareholder agreements, business transactions, and wills and estates. He also provides expert opinion evidence on property issues for litigation. His clientele encompasses developers, building owners, tenants, listed companies and trusts, individuals, and other lawyers. Michael holds a BA & LLB from the University of Sydney and has been actively involved with the Law Society’s Property Committee and Specialist Accreditation Board. His previous roles include Partner at Benjamin & Osborne before joining Osbornes Lawyers in 1997.
