Phil Rennick

Phil Rennick has been a resident and legal practitioner in Townsville for over 25 years, bringing more than 28 years of comprehensive legal experience to his practice. Holding a Bachelor of Laws, he has been admitted as a barrister of the High Court of Australia, as well as a solicitor of both the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia. Phil has contributed significantly to legal education through his involvement in the Queensland University of Technology’s mentor program, supporting students in Justice and Law for over a decade. He has also played a role in legislative development prior to parliamentary introduction and has handled complex extradition matters, including the high-profile case of Jayent Patel from the United States. Phil’s practice encompasses a wide range of matters within Criminal and Family Law. His extensive courtroom experience spans appearances in the Magistrates Court, District Court, Supreme Court, and Court of Appeal across Queensland. Phil is committed to ensuring that clients fully understand their legal issues by explaining complex concepts in clear and accessible language. He has represented clients in serious matters including murder and manslaughter, drug trafficking, robbery, arson, serious assaults, sexual offences, dishonesty offences, and traffic-related cases. Additionally, Phil regularly acts for clients in hearings before the Crime and Corruption Commission and handles Supreme Court bail applications. His daily court engagements include summary hearings, contested bail applications, trials, and sentencing across all criminal matters throughout Queensland.
