Michael Rodrigues is the Founder and Principal of Rodrigues Legal Group and an experienced Australian lawyer and litigation practitioner. A substantial part of his practice is in family law, including contested parenting proceedings, complex property and financial disputes, urgent and interim applications, and matters involving businesses, companies, trusts, SMSFs, valuations, disclosure and third-party interests. He also has significant experience in domestic and family violence proceedings and matters where family, criminal, child-protection or other legal issues intersect.
Michael has substantial experience in contested litigation and remains personally engaged in the strategy, preparation and conduct of significant matters. His work includes court advocacy, negotiation, mediation and the strategic resolution of disputes, with an emphasis on careful preparation, evidence and practical judgment.
He is an Independent Children’s Lawyer, an accredited mediator and a Registered Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner. His experience in parenting and family-violence matters includes cases involving high conflict, significant allegations of risk and complex evidentiary issues. He also acts in property matters involving substantial asset pools, business interests and complex financial structures.
Michael’s interstate and multi-jurisdictional experience extends beyond family law. He has acted in matters across Australian jurisdictions involving family law, domestic and family violence, criminal proceedings and other contentious matters. His family-law experience includes proceedings in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia and the separate Family Court of Western Australia. Rodrigues Legal Group has office locations in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria, and Michael acts for clients across Australia where appropriate.
Michael also has experience in criminal law, civil and commercial disputes, wills and estates, and related advisory work. That broader litigation and dispute-resolution background can be particularly valuable where different areas of law overlap or where a matter requires strategic management across more than one legal issue.
Before establishing Rodrigues Legal Group, Michael spent much of the preceding decade co-founding, building and leading legal and dispute-resolution businesses, including My Legal Crunch Lawyers and Skip the Conflict Mediation Services. Those roles involved legal practice, client advocacy, multi-jurisdictional operations, mediation and the development and management of legal-service businesses.
His broader professional background includes roles with Caxton Legal Centre, Thomson Reuters Legal Australia and the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal, contributing experience in legal research, analysis, advocacy and dispute resolution.
Michael is admitted to legal practice in Australia and also has professional experience and admissions spanning New Zealand and Ontario, Canada. His approach is centred on direct strategic involvement, clear advice, careful preparation and pursuing outcomes proportionate to the issues and interests at stake.
