Judy Tam

Judy completed her Bachelor of Laws at Murdoch University in 2002, following a prior career in the food industry. During her studies, she gained valuable experience in Family Law by working on the Information Line at Legal Aid. Additionally, Judy tutored Contract Law and lectured in Legal Framework at Curtin University’s International School. Since her admission as a Barrister and Solicitor in 2004, Judy has practised exclusively in Family Law. She began her career with a Perth law firm dedicated to family law matters before co-founding Hearty and Tam Family Lawyers with Michelle Hearty in 2008. Recently, in July 2023, Judy partnered with Craig Scott to establish Scott and Tam Legal. Judy is deeply committed to family law, with particular interests in property and children’s matters, including relocation cases. Her expertise and dedication have been recognised through nominations and listings in Doyle’s Guide as a Leading Parenting, Custody and Children’s Matters Lawyer in Western Australia for 2024 and 2021, as well as Recommended Parenting, Custody and Children’s Matters Lawyer for several previous years. She is an active member of the Family Law Practitioners Association of Western Australia, the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia, and the Law Society.
