About Tanya
Tanya’s career began with a Diploma of Financial Services (Financial Planning), and over a decade of experience in the financial services industry. Her passion for family law eventually led her to complete a Bachelor of Laws while working full-time. The achievement was marked by her induction into the Golden Key International Honour Society, awarded to the top 15% of students from over 400 universities globally. Tanya transitioned to the legal sector by securing a competitive clerkship, a paralegal role, and a Graduate Lawyer position with a national law firm in Sydney. Tanya built a strong foundation in litigation, acting for the Department of Home Affairs and the Department of Human Services to provide advice and high-volume litigation services to the public sector. She also appeared in final hearings before the Administrative Appeals Tribunal, representing the Department on complex matters involving social security, family assistance and child support legislation. Witnessing the challenges faced by self-represented litigants navigating complex legal systems sparked a shift in Tanya’s focus. Motivated by a desire to empower and provide clarity for clients during vulnerable times, Tanya moved back to her hometown on the Central Coast in 2019 and accepted a role in family law. She has since furthered her expertise by completing a Master of Laws, majoring in Family Law. Tanya finds it deeply rewarding to act in urgent recovery applications, particularly in cases where a child has been withheld or relocated without consent. For Tanya, the most fulfilling part of this work is guiding and supporting clients through distressing times, ensuring an outcome that aligns with both the law and the best interests of the child.
