David Simpson

David Simpson is the Managing Director of Simpson Quinn Lawyers, bringing over two decades of legal experience since joining the firm in 2002 and becoming a Partner in 2006. He holds a Bachelor of Arts/Law degree from the University of Tasmania, complemented by a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice. David was admitted as a Legal Practitioner to the Supreme Court of Tasmania after completing his articles with the Tasmanian Legal Aid Commission. Subsequently, he relocated to Queensland where he gained admission to the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia. David's practice spans a broad range of areas including commercial and general litigation, building and construction disputes, insolvency, administrative law, regulatory matters affecting businesses, commercial and property law, as well as wills, estates, family law and de facto relationships. He has extensive experience appearing in various courts and tribunals across Queensland and interstate, including courts of first instance, appellate courts, and the Administrative Appeals Tribunal. His legal work includes handling matters of significant complexity and importance, such as pursuing Special Leave applications to the High Court following decisions from lower courts. Outside the office, David enjoys spending time with his family, engaging in golf and outdoor activities. He is also committed to community involvement, volunteering with sporting organisations and undertaking pro bono legal work. Currently, he serves as chairman of the Conduct Committee for the Maroochy River Golf Club.
