

Nick Jane is a Partner at Stary Norton Halphen, bringing a wealth of experience as a criminal defence lawyer with a special focus on children and young people within the criminal justice system. Since joining the firm in 2015, following the completion of his Juris Doctor at the University of Melbourne, Nick has built a reputation as a leader in defending young clients. Recognised as a Law Institute of Victoria Accredited Specialist in Children’s Law, he represents clients across a wide range of criminal matters, from sexual and drug offences to high-profile terrorism and homicide cases, throughout all Courts in Victoria. Nick's role as Deputy Chair of the Law Institute of Victoria’s Child and Youth Issues Sub-Committee, alongside his membership in the LIV Executive Committee, underscores his commitment to the legal profession and the rights of young people. His career is marked by an unwavering dedication to advocacy, which is grounded in early experiences with the Aboriginal Legal Service of Western Australia and GRACE, an anti–death penalty firm in Houston, Texas.
