John’s experience includes contractual and commercial disputes, debt recovery and enforcement proceedings, equity and trust litigation, total and permanent disability and permanent incapacity claims, property damage disputes, estate and succession litigation, and defamation proceedings. He also acts in employment matters involving unfair dismissal, general protections, discrimination, and sexual harassment before the AHRC and the FWC.
John manages all stages of litigation, from early dispute strategy and pre-litigation negotiations through to hearing, settlement, and enforcement. He regularly appears in the Supreme Court of New South Wales, Federal Court of Australia, District Court, Local Court, the AHRC, the FWC, and administrative tribunals. He is entrusted with the conduct of high-volume and high-value matters that demand commercial judgment, legal precision, and disciplined procedural management.
In addition to his litigation practice, John advises business owners and SMEs on commercial and regulatory matters, with a strong emphasis on risk identification and dispute prevention. His advisory work includes drafting and reviewing employment contracts, independent contractor arrangements, services agreements, shareholder and partnership agreements, share sale agreements, contracts for the sale of business, franchise documentation, commercial leases, and internal workplace policies.
John’s advisory approach is informed by his extensive litigation experience. Having acted in contested proceedings across multiple jurisdictions, he brings a practical and commercially grounded perspective to front-end drafting, anticipating areas of risk, enforcement issues, and potential points of dispute. Acted with sole carriage in contested debt recovery proceedings progressing from pre-litigation through to enforcement and bankruptcy proceedings in the Federal Court of Australia.
