John’s advisory approach is informed by his extensive litigation experience. Having acted in contested proceedings across multiple jurisdictions, he brings a practical and commercially grounded perspective to front-end drafting, anticipating areas of risk, enforcement issues, and potential points of dispute. He works closely with directors and business owners on governance, internal restructuring, and compliance strategies, with a focus on producing clear, enforceable material that supports long-term commercial outcomes. Recent Matters Acted in Supreme Court of New South Wales proceedings Lewington v Dulyakarn [2025] NSWSC 635 and Lewington v Dulyakarn (No 2) [2025] NSWSC 808. Represented individuals and businesses in employment, defamation, discrimination and sexual harassment matters before the AHRC, FWC and Federal Court of Australia. Acted with sole carriage in contested debt recovery proceedings progressing from pre-litigation through to enforcement and bankruptcy proceedings in the Federal Court of Australia. Secured approvals of Total and Permanent Disability and Permanent Incapacity claims under multiple superannuation and insurance policies, including matters involving complex medical, vocational, and insurer assessment issues. Appeared in the ART involving the NDIA, securing favourable outcomes for applicants. Represented SMEs in shareholder, partnership, and franchise disputes involving internal restructuring, governance issues, and enforcement of contractual rights. Acted in building and construction disputes involving defective works and payment disputes, with numerous matters resolving through strategic negotiation and dispute resolution. Advised on commercial lease disputes for landlords and tenants with numerous negotiated successful outcomes.
