Amanda Heard

Amanda Heard serves as Legal Practice Director at Stratos Legal, where she leads the financial services team, managing all aspects of finance and securities law. She brings extensive experience across commercial, property, banking and finance, and insolvency law. Amanda has a broad litigation background, having represented both plaintiffs and defendants in matters ranging from straightforward debt recovery to complex commercial disputes across all Australian jurisdictions. She frequently acts for Australian financiers, preparing finance and security documentation, registering security interests, reviewing trust deeds, and advising on transactional structures and priority issues. Amanda has particular expertise in matters related to the Personal Property Securities Act 2009 (Cth). Her recovery work involves assisting financiers with exercising their rights under security interests, including the appointment of receivers, seizure of assets such as plant and equipment, obtaining court orders for possession and sale of real property, and conducting mortgagee sales. She also pursues recovery actions against guarantors when necessary. In addition, Amanda provides advice on various commercial arrangements, including terms of trade, shareholders agreements, partnerships, licensing agreements, as well as guidance on proposed transactions and dispute resolution.
