Ian Tait

Ian Tait has been a distinguished figure in the legal profession for over 35 years, known for his extensive expertise as a commercial lawyer. As the principal of Tait & Co, a firm he founded in 1997, Ian is intricately involved in all aspects of the practice, leveraging his deep understanding of both business and law. His approach is characterised by practicality and innovation, often devising creative solutions to achieve clients' objectives. Ian is particularly skilled in structuring commercial transactions and has a keen interest in estate planning and asset protection. Ian's commitment to client success is evident in his strategic development of structures and strategies aimed at business growth and risk minimisation. His knowledge is kept sharp through continuous learning, as he reads widely to stay informed on legal and business developments. A great supporter of physical fitness, Ian finds balance outside the office with a passion for activities like squash, tennis, running, and hiking. His achievements in sports are a testament to his dedication, having earned State Colours in tennis and squash, and participated in numerous running events internationally. His adventures include summiting Mount Kilimanjaro, tackling Mt Kinabalu, and exploring parts of the Larapinta Trail, among others. Recently, he fulfilled a long-held goal by experiencing the Tour du Mont Blanc. Ian's academic pursuits laid a solid foundation for his legal career. He holds a Master's degree in Law specialising in Intellectual Property and Competition Law from UNISA, and a combined Bachelor of Commerce and Law from the University of Port Elizabeth. His professional qualifications include admission as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Western Australia and the High Court of Australia. Ian is a dedicated member of the Law Society of Western Australia, continually contributing to the legal community in Perth and beyond.
