Michael Taylor

Michael Taylor is the Principal of Taylor & Co Legal, bringing over 14 years of comprehensive legal experience to his practice. His expertise spans property transactions, both litigated and non-litigated disputes, legal advice, and drafting, with appearances in courts ranging from the Local Court to the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal in New South Wales. Michael began his legal career in 2001 with Vandervords Solicitors, gaining valuable experience as a paralegal involved in daily court matters and assisting barristers across the Compensation Court circuits. Following the abolition of the Compensation Court in New South Wales, he joined Henry Davis York, Sydney's largest firm, where he managed a variety of commercial and construction disputes. During this time, he also took carriage of several pro bono litigated matters advocating for stateless refugees, successfully securing protection visas for three individuals. His dedication to client advocacy continued at McCabe Terrill Lawyers, where he focused on professional indemnity defences for a diverse range of professionals including architects, project managers, valuers, solicitors, barristers, and engineers. In addition, Michael worked on self-insured claims for the Catholic Church, government bodies, and corporate clients. Promoted to associate in 2007, he achieved significant outcomes for clients through effective negotiation and favourable court judgments. Michael further expanded his legal and claims expertise in an in-house role with American Insurance Group as a senior claims examiner. There, he managed complex, high-value claims across financial lines, casualty, crisis, and marine sectors, handling matters from bank fraud to helicopter accidents and cargo losses. He worked closely with Sydney legal teams to resolve these technically demanding claims. After starting a family, Michael returned to the Penrith district, reconnecting with his roots and joining the family real estate business—a long-standing personal interest. In 2013, he established Taylor & Co Legal to deliver integrated property and legal services in conjunction with Stanton & Taylor.
