Kim Walters

Kim Walters is the Director of W3IP Law and has more than 20 years’ experience in intellectual property, technology and commercial law. She advises Australian and international clients on trade marks and brand protection, copyright, intellectual property disputes, software and technology agreements, licensing, artificial intelligence and emerging technology, privacy, data protection and related commercial matters. Kim has worked in both private practice and as corporate counsel, including in the mining industry in Western Australia and the hospitality sector in Southeast Asia. This commercial background gives her a practical understanding of the legal and business issues involved in protecting, commercialising and enforcing intellectual property and managing technology-related legal risk. Her practice includes trade mark strategy and portfolio management, trade mark oppositions and disputes, copyright and design matters, technology and software agreements, intellectual property licensing and commercialisation, AI-related legal and regulatory issues, privacy compliance, data protection, data handling and data breach matters. Kim is a registered trade marks attorney and holds a Master of Intellectual Property from the University of Technology Sydney, together with postgraduate qualifications in trade mark law and intellectual property commercialisation. Through W3IP Law, Kim works with founders, technology businesses, growing companies and established Australian and international businesses. Her approach is practical and commercially focused, with an emphasis on clear advice and workable solutions.
