Stephen Hedges

Stephen Hedges has been a driving force at Walker Hedges Forestville since 1986, initially joining the firm in 1984 and becoming a founding partner two years later. Over several decades, Stephen has built a broad and deep practice encompassing commercial and general litigation, commercial law, company law, property law, conveyancing, building and construction disputes, commercial and retail leasing, as well as probate and estate planning including wills, powers of attorney, and guardianships. Stephen’s commercial law expertise is well recognised, particularly through his role as general counsel for several overseas companies. In this capacity, he has worked on complex contract matters both within Australia and internationally. His work has taken him extensively through eastern Asia, notably China and Taiwan, where he has negotiated and drafted commercial contracts. Additionally, Stephen has handled a range of commercial issues in the United States and the United Kingdom, further broadening his experience on an international scale. In the area of litigation, Stephen has appeared in significant commercial disputes before the Supreme Court of New South Wales, including its Court of Appeal, and the High Court of Australia. Among his notable achievements is securing a landmark victory for a client in a high-profile commercial dispute with the Government of New South Wales.
