

Craig Painter is the Principal Solicitor and owner of Westbourne Legal, with a wealth of experience gained since his admission to the ACT Supreme Court and High Court in 2003. After an initial career in teaching, Craig transitioned to law, where he earned a Masters of Law in 2006. Craig is known for his empathetic client approach, diligently analysing each unique situation to preemptively address potential issues. His expertise spans Estate Planning, Conveyancing, Business Development, and Dispute Resolution, always ensuring that clients' rights and interests are safeguarded both in the present and for the future. Craig's journey through the legal profession includes owning and directing McSpeddenHarvey Lawyers, which he rebranded to Westbourne Legal in 2018 to better reflect its location in Yarralumla. At Westbourne Legal, he continues the legacy of providing comprehensive legal services, maintaining a focus on achieving results with minimal fuss. Craig has built a reputation in litigation and dispute resolution, appearing in ACT, NSW, and Federal Courts. His proactive approach helps clients, whether individuals or businesses, navigate complex legal challenges, including debt recovery, insolvency, and commercial disputes. Before establishing Westbourne Legal, Craig held significant roles, including Director at Farrar Gesini Dunn, Special Counsel and Senior Associate at Snedden Hall & Gallop, and as a Partner at elringtons, where he led the dispute resolution practice group focusing on litigation, compensation, and employment law. Outside his legal practice, Craig enjoys outdoor activities with his wife and spending time with his two young grandchildren.
