

Peter Whatson is the Principal at Whatson Legal, based in Shell House, Adelaide. With an extensive background in litigation, commercial, and property law, Peter offers strategic guidance on matters encompassing tendering, probity, contracting, asset management, due diligence, development, and infrastructure. His expertise extends into telecommunications, leasing, and land services, with a particular focus on local government. Before founding Whatson Legal in February 2014, Peter honed his skills as a valued member of Wallmans Lawyers, where he was integral in handling commercial, property, and local government cases. His prior role as Team Leader Commercial at the Australian Government Solicitor saw him leading the Commonwealth Government's Commercial and Property practice in South Australia. During this time, Peter contributed to high-profile projects such as the RAAF Edinburgh redevelopment and the Hypersonic International Flight Research Experimentation, specialising in government procurement and infrastructure projects. Earlier in his career, Peter gained significant experience at Mellor Olsson in commercial litigation, property, and banking and finance, as well as at Finlaysons, focusing on property and mergers and acquisitions. He holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Adelaide and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Economy from Flinders University. Peter's education began at St Ignatius College, laying the foundation for a distinguished legal career.
