About Vanessa
Vanessa Zahra is the founder and Principal Solicitor at Zahra Law, with over 24 years of experience as a practising solicitor. Since her admission in 1999, Vanessa has consistently chosen to represent individuals rather than corporations, driven by a commitment to ensuring fair treatment for all. Her expertise spans interactions with Police and Courts, navigating the complexities of relationship breakdowns, and tackling legal challenges in the mental health sector and gaols.
For more than two decades, Vanessa has been a staunch defence lawyer with Legal Aid NSW, advocating tirelessly for the vulnerable. Her career began in civil and personal injury law, where she passionately represented clients against negligent employers, Councils, and companies, successfully securing maximum compensation through individual claims and class actions.
Vanessa also has experience as a DPP lawyer, which provided her with an invaluable perspective on the prosecution process. This background enhances her effectiveness as a defence lawyer, enabling her to understand and navigate the legal obligations of police and prosecutors adeptly.
