Susan Zeitz

Susan Zeitz is a seasoned legal practitioner with over 30 years of experience, primarily in industrial relations and employment law, complemented by her work in dispute resolution. She represents both public and private sector clients, focusing on advocacy within industrial relations, employment law, equal opportunity, and anti-discrimination laws. Susan is known for crafting robust industrial relations strategies, leading negotiations, and providing guidance on certified agreement negotiations, responses to industrial actions, and other related matters. Her notable career includes serving as President of the Employee Relations Commission of Victoria from 1993 to 1996, where she arbitrated, mediated, and introduced schemes to standardise pay for Victorian employees. During her tenure, she oversaw the transition and referral of State industrial relations powers to the Commonwealth. Susan's rich experience includes partnerships at leading national law firms Minter Ellison and Blake Dawson Waldron, before taking on the principal Melbourne-based partner role at EMA Legal. In 2006, she founded Zeitz Workplace Lawyers, continuing her commitment to excellence in Melbourne. With a career beginning in 1982 at the South Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Susan has consistently focused on industrial relations, employment law, and alternative dispute resolution. Her leadership at the Employee Relations Commission of Victoria saw her managing its operations, including tribunal assignments and annual reporting to the Parliament of Victoria. Under Peacemaker ADR, Susan extends her expertise in dispute resolution as a mediator, investigator, and private arbitrator, addressing workplace grievances, bullying, and harassment in both public and private sectors since 1997.
