

Susanna Tenner is the Principal Solicitor at API Legal, drawing upon a rich background shaped by her Tongan heritage and upbringing in Western Sydney. Raised in a large family actively involved in the Catholic community, Susanna developed a strong affinity for working with children and individuals from diverse ethnic backgrounds. Her commitment to empowering those in vulnerable situations led her to pursue a career in law. Susanna holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honours from the University of Sydney and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of New South Wales, complemented by a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the College of Law, St Leonards. Her early professional journey included roles with government agencies such as the Administrative Decisions Tribunal, Migration Review Tribunal, and the NSW Ombudsman's Office. Susanna’s career in the legal field commenced at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), where she served as a Legal Clerk and later as a Prosecutions Solicitor after her admission to the Supreme Court of NSW in 2006. Her work at the ODPP afforded her significant experience, particularly in the District Court, where she prosecuted serious criminal matters and instructed Crown Prosecutors in high-profile trials. Transitioning to criminal defence, Susanna joined an esteemed law firm in Western Sydney, reconnecting with her roots and serving clients from Pacific and other ethnic communities. In 2009, she founded API Legal, dedicated to representing clients across all criminal and traffic law areas, with appearances in courts throughout NSW. Susanna’s practice is characterised by her commitment to cultural diversity, advocacy for both indigenous and non-indigenous Australians, and dedication to integrity in her legal service delivery.
