Thea Birss

Thea Birss leads Birss Workplace Law as its Managing Director, where her expertise in workplace law has been consistently recognised, notably by Best Lawyers since 2020. Based in Adelaide, she dedicates her practice to advising businesses on managing labour to enhance efficiency and reduce risks in a complex legal environment. With over two decades of experience in Australian commercial law firms, Thea offers strategic employment and safety advice to clients, blending practical solutions with a client-focused approach. Her work includes conducting workplace investigations, dispute resolution, and providing training to empower clients to handle workplace matters proactively. Before founding Birss Workplace Law, Thea was a Partner at Vardon Legal and KHQ Lawyers. Her career also includes significant roles as a Senior Associate at NDA Law, Mellor Olsson, and DW Fox Tucker Lawyers. She is actively involved in the legal community, serving on the Law Society of South Australia’s Industrial Relations Committee, the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Committee, and the Young Lawyers Support Group. Additionally, she contributes her expertise as a board member of Westside Community Lawyers. Thea is an alumna of Flinders University, holding a Bachelor's Degree in Law.
