CW Hooper & Hooper has a proud history dating back to its establishment in Laidley on 14 September 1895 by Charles Walter Hooper. Operating from the same premises for over 128 years, the firm has been a longstanding pillar of the local legal community. Charles Hooper, who grew up in the region and completed his legal studies in Ipswich, laid the foundation for the practice while also introducing a mortgage and money lending service to support young people entering the agricultural sector. Recognising a gap in rural services at the time, he also commenced an accounting service, becoming a registered tax agent. Beyond his legal career, Charles was actively engaged in the community, serving two terms as Mayor of Laidley and sitting on the Queensland Law Society Council. The firm's tradition continued through Charles' eldest son, Charles Jr., known affectionately as 'Young Charlie', who was admitted as a solicitor in 1926 and joined his father in partnership. Following his father's passing, Young Charlie led the practice and maintained strong community involvement, including a generous donation of the clubhouse to the Laidley Bowls Club. Subsequent generations, including his sons Ken and Peter, have carried on this legacy, with Peter managing the firm for thirty years until 2012. In February 2012, Peter Hooper sold the practice to Bill Munro, an experienced solicitor from Toowoomba, remaining as a consultant until retiring in mid-2013. Ownership later transferred to Pamela Wardle in January 2015, who had previously worked with both Peter and Bill, ensuring continuity of service.
