Tracey Davies is the Principal of Davies Lawyers, a firm she founded in 2011 to deliver practical and client-focused legal solutions. Tracey graduated with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Commerce from The University of Melbourne and was admitted to practice in both State and Federal courts in 1988. Her legal journey began at a small suburban law firm, where she gained diverse experience representing clients in court across various matters. After a stint in Deloitte’s tax advisory team, Tracey returned to her passion for litigation, becoming a partner at several prestigious city law firms, including Madgwicks, Macpherson Kelley, and Cornwall Stodart. Over two decades, she developed her expertise in commercial litigation and employment law, managing high-profile trials in Victoria and representing clients such as liquidators, employers, employees, and unions. Her desire to shift away from traditional law firm structures that focus on billable hours led her to establish Davies Lawyers. Here, Tracey has focused on employment law, handling cases involving award applications, industrial agreements, and termination procedures. She advises on discrimination issues, directors' duties, and OH&S, drafts workplace policies, and conducts training sessions. Her litigation experience is extensive, having been involved in major insolvency cases, including Australia’s significant Pyramid liquidation. Among Tracey’s notable cases are successfully defending a client in a restraint of trade issue in the Supreme Court of Victoria, initiating Federal Court proceedings for underpayment claims, negotiating tax-effective termination packages for executives, and obtaining Freezing Orders in cases of employee theft. In addition to her legal practice, Tracey serves as a Councillor for Kingston City Council and has held the position of Board Member for the South Metro Junior Football League. Her community involvement and professional achievements reflect her commitment to both her clients and the broader community.
