Melanie Thorley

Melanie Thorley serves as the Director of MJT Law, a firm she founded in 2014. With an academic foundation beginning at the University of Queensland, where she earned her Bachelor of Laws (LLB), Melanie furthered her legal education with a Masters of Law (LLM) from Queensland University of Technology. Her journey and dedication to the legal field are accentuated by her global perspective, having lived in 11 countries and travelled to many more. This international experience informs her belief in the universal right to proper legal representation, a principle deeply embedded in the ethos of MJT Law. The firm's commitment to pro bono work is demonstrated by the extensive free legal advice provided to hundreds of clients, amounting to over $100,000 in 2018/2019 alone. Outside her professional life, Melanie is an avid bike rider and beekeeping enthusiast, sharing her love for the outdoors with her husband and their two dogs, who accompany them on canoeing adventures. Her furry companions are also a part of the office atmosphere, with the dogs joining her daily and the cats making occasional visits. Melanie’s unique blend of legal acumen, global insight, and personal passion creates a dynamic and compassionate approach to legal practice at MJT Law.
