

Zaki Omar, currently serving as Special Counsel, has an extensive legal background that spans both national and international spheres. He began his journey in law with an LLB (Hons) from the University of London in 2000 and was called to the Bar of England and Wales the following year. He furthered his education with an LL.M from the University of New South Wales in 2007, and is a practising solicitor in New South Wales as well as an advocate at the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. Zaki's career has seen him excel in roles across corporate and commercial law. His experience includes positions at notable firms and corporations such as Deacons in Australia, where he worked as a senior lawyer, and Grameenphone in Bangladesh, where he was the General Counsel and Director of Legal and Compliance. His responsibilities included managing legal and compliance matters, advising on business and commercial laws, and leading strategic initiatives in legal and policy advocacy. In 2018, seeking to make a broader impact, Zaki focused his efforts on human rights law by joining Human Rights for All. There, he has been instrumental in representing clients in immigration detention, advocating before various legal bodies, and undertaking strategic litigation aimed at advancing civil rights within administrative law. Most recently, Zaki founded AMICA Veritas, where he serves as Founder and Principal Lawyer. The firm reflects his commitment to enshrining human rights, supporting international trade, and fostering sustainable practices. Under his leadership, AMICA Veritas aims to bridge international commerce and individual rights, providing comprehensive legal advice that respects global human rights and environmental standards. Throughout his illustrious career, Zaki has honed his expertise in areas such as commercial law, immigration, and human rights, supported by a range of professional training in leadership, negotiation, and arbitration.
